Becoming an Egg Donor

Dear Donor,

Thank you so much for your interest in our egg donor program. Parents do not choose to be infertile and your generous gift gives them the opportunity to have the family they’ve always dreamed of.

In order to qualify to become an egg donor you must meet the following criteria:

  • Healthy female between the ages of 21–30
  • BMI between 18.5-27. To calculate your BMI click HERE.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
  • United States Citizen
  • College graduate (two year degree or more) or currently enrolled in college (some exceptions may be made)
  • Not currently on long term form of birth control including Depo Provera (For a minimum of 6 months), Implant (Norplant, Implanon), or the Mirena IUD (Paragard IUD is O.K). Some exceptions may be made
  • No history of infertility
  • Regular, monthly menstrual cycles
  • Nonsmoker and drug free
  • No personal history of depression or mental illnesses
  • Have not received any piercings or tattoos within the preceding 12 months of application
  • Have not received any blood transfusions within the preceding 12 months of application
  • No STDs
  • Willing to take injectable medications

If you meet the above Requirements:

  1. Fill out an online application. If you initially qualify to donate eggs we will contact you at the email address provided in your application.
  2. The next step in the process is to fill out an in depth donor profile so the intended parents have more information about your personality, education, physical attributes and medical history. If you did not already include photos in your application you will also want to upload at least 6 current, close up flattering photographs of yourself in addition to one or two photos of yourself as a child. Do not include photographs of your children.
  3. After we review your in depth profile you will be contacted by a program administrator with additional questions or requests for further information.
  4. Assuming you exude competency, are comfortable with the process, and convey an adequate level of understanding of the risks and protocol outlined in order to participate in an egg donor program your profile will be published to a secure, password protected database accessible only by our intended parents.
  5. At this point you will simply wait to be matched with prospective parents. For some donors this can happen right away, but for others it may take several months.

Donors may donate a maximum of six times in their lifetime whether those donations are through AAG or elsewhere. No exceptions!

Moral Issues

It is obvious that you are a caring person to consider giving such a priceless gift; however, there are several inherent moral implications of becoming an egg donor. We ask that you put yourself in the prospective parent's shoes. IVF procedures are costly and up until this point the intended parents may have already endured a lot of financial and emotional strain. We are relying on you to be truthful on your in depth donor application about health history and prescription medications, and to be reliable if chosen for an egg donation cycle.
